In the nine years between 2009 and 2024, tourism revenue has grown by 40% from £2.07bn to £2.90bn (unadjusted). Over the same period, visitor numbers have grown by 15.8% and visitor days by 15.3%. WebWith all of the attributes mentioned here – and of course many more that aren’t – it’s of no surprise at all that tourism is a huge player in the economy of the Lake District and there’s no sign of this slowing down.
